There is always the time for a filmmaker to work on a music video for a beautiful talent with a beautiful car in the frame.
One of the most exciting and complicated gigs I've had in all of my career as a DP happened to be right before my journey to L.A. It also happened to be one of the most fruitful projects with this particular director so far. The main idea was both pretty simple to pull off and extremely difficult. How can you show the talent in the most pelasing way, not forgeting the depth of the song? Well, that's when the URSA Mini Pro 4.5K and the 1/4 Pro Mist come to play.
This astonishingly detailed photograph illustrates out set-up for the 'car in the space' scene. Our beautiful talent rockets through space and time whilst singing about both of those ideas. It takes a pretty powerfull projector to counter the light coming from an HMI on the other side of the car. Softened HMI, of course. We also had two light operators with different colored lights to mimic street bulbs passing by.
Obviously, lots of editing and VFX were involved. It's a music video, after all.
Here is a sneak peak of what we've been doing on the shoot day.
